Chapter History

                          Razorback Chapter History

 
       The Razorback Chapter of IAAP was founded in April of 2001.  The charter officers were:  Sandy Hancock CPS, President, Linda Dizney CAP, President Elect, Mary Gray, Vice President, Pat Edwards, Secretary, and Melissa Carter, Treasurer. 

          
          The Chapter’s objectives are to provide professional development and education opportunities through its monthly meetings and other special events for administrative professionals.  Along with providing these opportunities, the Chapter has received numerous awards and has been actively recruiting new members, chartering new chapters, and spreading the word about IAAP throughout the NW Arkansas region.  The Chapter has received awards for the greatest number increase and greatest percentage increase in membership in the Arkansas-Oklahoma (A-O) Division received at the A-O Division Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City in June, 2005; Chapter presidents have received a Distinguished Chapter President’s Watch during the International Convention for meeting the membership goals of International in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006; the Chapter sponsored the chartering of the Benton County Chapter in Rogers, AR in April of 2005 and sponsored the chartering of the Central Arkansas Chapter in Little Rock, AR in October of 2005.

           
            In 2003 the Razorback Chapter was awarded $200 as a winner in the Fabulous Chapter Five Program for recruiting 5 new members in a month.  In 2005, the Chapter was awarded $100 from the IAAP Innovation Rewards Program for recruiting the most new members within the Association during the month of October.

            The Razorback Chapter hosted the Arkansas-Oklahoma Division Annual Meeting in 2003 and in 2007.  Chapter members who have served as A-O Division officers are:  Linda Dizney CAP, A-O Division President 2006-2007, A-O Division President Elect 2005-2006, A-O Division Vice President 2003-2005; and Gerry Harris, A-O Division Treasurer 2006-2007.  The Chapter co-hosted two successful Administrative Professionals Week luncheons and seminars in 2007 and 2008, co-hosting with the Benton County Chapter.

            The Razorback Chapter won the 2007-2008 A-O Division Chapter Scorecard competition during the A-O Division Annual Meeting held in Bartlesville, OK June 8-10, 2008.  The Chapter was awarded one free registration and three nights’ lodging at the 2009 A-O Division Annual Meeting.

       
           Service projects that the chapter has been involved in are:  sponsoring one or more consumers from LifeStyles, Inc., at Christmas; sponsoring individuals at Christmas with Faith in Action; and the Ozark Thunder Poker Run to benefit Peace at Home Women’s Shelter.
